Hello there and welcome! It’s been a little over a week since we came home from a weekend getaway in Brussels. And how lovely it has been! I have to be honest, I didn’t expect much. But I was totally wrong! This city reminds me of Paris, but it’s a lot smaller and feels more “homey”. Architecture is beautiful, the smell of waffles, fries and chocolate is in the air and it is not as expensive as Paris…
We stayed in Pentahotel Brussels City Centre and I am very happy I chose this one! Rooms are spacious and modern, the lobby is super cool and the location very convenient. Plus, I found a great bargain, so it was fairly cheap! If you are looking for an accommodation (anywhere), with this link you will get 15$ off!
We were in Brussels one week before the Christmas market starts, so everything was getting ready for the most beautiful time of the year. And you could definitely feel it at Grand-Place. Of course we also visited Atomium, which is a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times! The whole area around it is very nice, definitely worth walking around! After Atomium we went to Parc du Cinquantenaire with the triumphal arch. The last day we went to Mont des Arts, which offers an amazing view of the old city, and after that we walked around Brussels Park. Visiting parks in the fall is totally the best thing you can do, all those colors!
The capital of Europe
As many of the leading European institutions reside in Brussels, we also went to visit European Parliament. Unfortunately (and obviously), it is closed in the weekends, but we found one open place – Parlamentarium – visitor centre. And it was a lot of fun!
Obviously, you HAVE TO try waffles (Le Funambule) and fries (we tried Fritland). I promise, your life will change forever, haha. Besides that, I can recommend Kopi Corner for breakfast bagels or Premier Comptoir Thai for.. well, thai.
Have you been to Brussels? And did you like it as much as we did? Leave a comment!
And see you next time!
