Fall in Paris!

Eiffel tower sunset

Hello again! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall as much as I am! As I was lucky enough to spend some of these lovely fall days in Paris, I would love to tell you a little bit about it 🙂

Ahoj! A keďže som mala to šťastie stráviť zopár jesenných dní v Paríži, rada Vám o tom porozprávam.

Sunset Paris

My best friend is currently studying at SciencesPo and lives in a cute cozy studio right by Arc de Triomphe, so.. I guess it was pretty obvious I would visit! And gosh, I couldn’t have chosen better time to go. It was warm, sunny, the leaves had all possible colors and the atmosphere was just totally great!

“Paris is always a good idea.”

Someone wise once said. I have to admit, when I visited for the first time, I didn’t understand what the hype was about. All the beggars in the streets, annoying street vendors and a lot of dirt. I still don’t like this and I never will. The second time I was lucky to go with my boyfriend last year! And even though it was more romantic and a little nicer, it still wasn’t perfect. But now… Something has changed! I just think fall suits this city the most!

So if you want to hear a little bit more about my trip, stay tuned!

Všetci tí žobráci, pouliční predavači a špina…

As I arrived in the afternoon and didn’t have any proper lunch, we didn’t wait long and headed to the restaurant. I really really wanted to go to the Thai restaurant where I ate last year with my boyfriend – Khao Thai. Made a little mistake – didn’t check the opening hours! So we ended up coming there, realizing it was still closed and we had to wait an hour. No problem, as it is super close to Notre Dame and Seine! The restaurant didn’t disappoint – my Pad Thai was great!

From there we just walked all the way back to the apartment. The sunset was lovely! I have seen many sunset in different parts of the world, but this one was definitely one of my favorites, with Eiffel tower shining in the background!

Night Paris

The next day, Saturday, my friend (Martin) had to go to university, so I had a little time to enjoy morning with this view only for myself! I felt super local, getting up as someone who actually lives in Paris! The only downside to this apartment is that it has no elevator. Trust me, climbing six floors after walking 15km can be a little challenging.

So after I got ready I went on a little walking tour – the destination was SciencesPo, which is in the Latin quarter, on the other side of Seine, and hour walk. It was pretty interesting and weird to see Champs Elysees almost empty! Apparently, people don’t shop at 10AM on Saturdays, haha. I stopped by Laduree and I could totally smell all those macaroons in the air!

After getting to the lower part of Champs Elysees, I found myself in paradise. The sunshine and fall colors looked so amazing together! I felt so lucky to be there!

Dolná časť Champs Elysees vyzerala skvelo. Slnko v spojení s týmito farbami spolu hrali dokonale. Cítila som sa úžasne!

metro

I took it though Avenue Montaigne – the street with all the high-end brands – and “windowshopped” a little. Hm, wouldn’t be totally bad to own one (maybe more) of those Dior or Chanel bags, would it?

Šla som aj cez Avenue Montaigne, ulicu so všetkými luxusnými značkami, a obdivovala výklady. Vlastniť takú malú chanelku by nebolo úplne odveci, však?

Then I found myself at the lovely promenade along Seine where I have never been before. The sun was nice warm, people seemed happy and in love and I could totally imagine myself living in one of those rooftop apartments with crazy view, drinking coffee and eating baguette! Well, maybe at some point!

Objavila som parížsku Náplavku, kde som doteraz nikdy nebola. Bolo teplúčko, ľudia vyzerali akosi šťastne a zamilovane a ja som si zrazu úplne reálne dokázala predstaviť ako vlastním jeden z tých strešných bytov, pijem na terasu kávu a jem bagetu. Hm, možno raz!

After passing le Grand Palais and les Invalides, I was in the heart of Latin quarter. I love this part of Paris, full of small cafés, shops and.. that atmosphere!

SciencesPo sa nachádza v latinskej štvrti, ktorú úplne milujem. Je to taký ten pravý Paríž – maličné kaviarničky a obchodíky a úžasná atmosféra.

After picking my friend up we walked to the catacombs of Paris, to try our luck. Well, didn’t work. The queue seemed to be for maybe 2 hours, same as last year! At least I have an excuse to come again! Soon, please! So instead of catacombs, we decided to go to La Defense – fairly new part with all the big companies and great shopping!

Spolu s Martinom sme sa rozhodli skúsiť šťastie v parížskych katakombách. Nevyšlo to.

Later that night we had a little too much wine, I felt like my bed was moving backwards with me and.. you know. But wouldn’t it be shame not to drink wine in France?!

Večer sme strávili v spoločnosti vína. Čo viac dodať, haha.

Our wine evening resulted into us getting up around noon the next day, oops! We took the metro to Montmartre and just sat in the grass (was too warm – moved to the shadow afterwards) and enjoyed the view. Not a bad Sunday, I can tell you!

Montmartre Paris view

The only thing we actually managed that day was walking down the beautiful streets of Montmartre and ending up at Laduree! This place is just heaven. The perfect cure for hangover!

heaven Laduree

On my last full day in Paris I was again alone, so I shopped. And ate at Chipotle, which I was missing so bad here in Europe! Me and Martin were supposed to meet under the Eiffel tower when he is done at school, so I chilled at home and then walked. Or, I intended to. When I walked out of the apartment, I saw nothing but policemen and closed streets. I freaked out! In the end it ended up being French president Macron meeting (I guess) Lebanese president. I got pretty delayed as all the streets were closed, so I only took a couple of pictures at Trocadero and ran to the Eiffel tower!

I met this cute couple taking their wedding pictures. No matter how cliché it sounds and looks, it was soooo romantic!

Tento krásny pár som stretla cestou. Nech to vyzerá ako akékoľvek cliché, bolo to veľmi romantické!

Eiffel tower

We spent some time under the tower, sitting in grass, drinking wine (surprise?) and chilling. After sunset we walked to the Musee de quai Branly – this pretty building covered with grass!

Pod Eiffelovkou sme strávili určitý čas pitím vína a relaxom v tráve. Po zotmení sme ešte šli omrknúť Musee de quai Branly – túto zaujímavú budovu obrastenú trávou.

Since my flight was late in the evening on Tuesday, we walked to Louvre and then just wandered the streets around it. It was exactly where I lived with my parents and aunt 7 years ago, so I got pretty nostalgic! In the end my legs refused to work so we took an Uber home and my trip was coming to an end..

This time I was super sad to leave. I had an amazing time with my best friend, catching up, laughing at our stupid jokes and complaining about our lives. But I am sure I am coming back! On the bus drive to the airport I took these two pictures – last glimpse of Paris!

In the end, my flight got super delayed and I got to Copenhagen at 1AM, totally exhausted. Maybe something wanted me to stay?!

Môj let nakoniec meškal a do Kodane som priletela o jednej ráno. Asi niečo nechcelo aby som z Paríža odišla!

So this was my little trip! How do you feel about Paris? I feel like there is only this love-hate relationship connected to it, which side are you on?

I will see you next time with some tips on where to eat in this city of love! Have a nice evening!

Čo vy a Paríž?
